OVERVIEW

Here at LODRO, we only use premium full grain leather which is the the finest and strongest layer of leather. Being from the outermost layer of the hide, full grain leather retains the complete strength, beauty, and integrity of the raw material, displaying its natural variations. When it comes to sourcing leather, we work with tanneries that are certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), the world's leading environmental certification for the leather industry. All our bags are lined with 100% cotton and use electroplated brass hardware and YKK zippers.

TUMBLED COWHIDE LEATHER

Our tumbled cowhide leather is gently tumbled in rotating drums and has a subtle finish to enhance its natural character and richness. The leather is vegetable tanned which is a process that relies on natural tannins extracted from plants and trees to turn the hide into leather. This traditional method is much more friendly to the environment and creates leather that matures beautifully over time. With daily use, this leather will absorb oils and buff out scratches into a rich and refined patina unique to you. Hides are sustainably sourced from Europe where they are a by-product of the food industry that would otherwise go to waste.

NAPPA COWHIDE LEATHER

Our nappa cowhide leather is a full-grain leather prized for its extraordinarily softness and supple drape. Sourced from select hides and tanned using specialized techniques, it develops a smooth, almost buttery surface that responds to touch with gentle give. The grain is visible yet delicate.

WRINKLED COWHIDE LEATHER

Our wrinkled cowhide leather is a vegetable-tanned leather defined by a naturally scrunched and creased surface. The hide is gently processed to preserve this compressed texture, allowing folds and wrinkles to remain visible rather than smoothed away. The result is a leather with depth and character, where the wrinkling is inherent to the material and gives each piece a distinct, expressive finish.

MEMORY COWHIDE LEATHER

Our memory cowhide leather is all about recording your experiences through wear. Soft and supple to the touch, this full-grain leather has a varied grain that captures creases, scratches, and marks rather than concealing it. Beginning with a cooler grey tone, the leather gradually shifts toward a warmer brown with use. Over time, each piece develops a distinct character, shaped by the patterns of daily life and the stories it carries.

YAK LEATHER

Our Yak leather, used on offered as upholstery on select LODRO furniture pieces, is characterized by its natural markings and grain. For this leather, we use either vegetable-tanning or chrome-free tanning. This raw characteristic of Yak Leather is a direct result of the Yak’s unique origins. The Yak is indigenous to the regions of Central Asia, from the Himalayas through to the Tibetan Plateau. These animals are adapted to thrive in conditions with elevations up to 6000 metres and temperatures reaching as low as -40°C.
