Full Grain Leather
Full Grain Leather
Full grain leather is the highest-grade, most durable type of leather as it comes from the uppermost layer of the animal hide. Because of this, full grain leather retains the full natural strength, beauty, and integrity of the material. Other types of leather like "Top Grain Leather" typically have imperfections sanded off and involve embossing an artificial grain onto lower-quality hides. Lastly, "Genuine Leather" is typically made from the lower layers of the hide left after full-grain and top-grain leathers are made.
Vegetable Tanned
Vegetable Tanned
Tanning is the process of turning hides into leather. Vegetable tanning is a type of tanning that relies on natural extracts such as bark, wood, and leaves. The vegetable tanning process is long and multi-staged, typically taking weeks or even months to complete. As a result, this traditional method creates leather that matures beautifully and develops a refined patina over time.
